Meet our friendly and knowledgable optometrists

Dr. Dionne Jones

Dr. Dionne Jones was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. There, she attended the University of Saskatchewan and earned her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Physiology. Dr. Jones later completed her Doctorate of Optometry with Honors at the University of Waterloo. The program included clinical rotations in primary care, specialty contact lens fitting, low vision, and pediatrics. Her ocular disease externship included working alongside several ophthalmologists in Alabama, where her training focused on ocular conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cataract, glaucoma, and neuro-ophthalmology.  It was in optometry school where she met her significant other Dr. Bryan Ens and upon graduation, Dr. Jones made the move to Edmonton to live and practice. Sherwood Park Optometry was her first job – and Dr. Jones plans to be there long term, as she is the proud new owner of the clinic. She instantly fell for the community, and couldn’t be happier to continue growing the practice and providing excellent, comprehensive eye care. Dr. Jones is a member of both the Alberta Association and Canadian Association of Optometry. Eye doctoring aside – Dr. Jones loves to spend time with her family at the lake, playing golf, snowboarding, and travelling.

Dr. Shelley Dhawan

Dr. Shelley Dhawan grew up in Edmonton where she attended the University of Alberta. She graduated in 2013 from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA, where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree. Dr. Dhawan had the opportunity to work at one of the leading eye hospitals in the United States, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, where she gained extensive experience in many specialities, including cornea and refractive surgery, retinal conditions, and glaucoma. She also rotated through various health centers and private practices in Boston and St. Louis, where she gained further knowledge in contact lenses, pediatrics, and ocular disease. In her spare time, Dr. Dhawan enjoys travelling with her husband and working out.

Dr. Bryan Ens

Sherwood Park Optometry is excited to have Dr. Bryan Ens join our team of Optometrists. Not only is he highly qualified and passionate about providing comprehensive eye care to his patients, but now the clinic is truly a “family run business” as him and his wife Dr. Dionne Jones get to practice together. Dr. Ens received his Doctorate of Optometry with Honours at the University of Waterloo in 2014. He has gained much experience with ocular disease through his clinical rotations at Houston Eye Associates, one of the largest ophthalmology clinics in North America. His love for travel and helping others has taken him around the world, volunteering his optometric services to those in need in Nicaragua, Malawi, Peru, and the Philippines. At home, Dr. Ens enjoys golfing, running, playing hockey and best of all – being the proud, new father to his son Milo.
