Visual Field Test

In your regular eye exam, reading lines on the acuity chart measures your central vision. A visual field test is a technology that maps out your peripheral vision. This can provide information regarding the location of any disease processes or lesions throughout the visual pathway. It is very important in the diagnosis and management of ocular conditions such as glaucoma or retinopathy from certain medications. Visual field tests can also be used to help diagnose things that may interrupt the visual pathway in the brain, such asĀ  strokes or tumors.
